Have an Alfa 158. You know you want one.
It was raced both pre and post WW2, the taking place of which meant that there was no work on and therefore no progress in racers during the interim so the 158 remained competitive in the early 1950s.
It was called, in Ferrari fashion, after its 1.5 litre straight eight which looked like this:
By 1950 the little eight was pumping out 350 bhp at 8500 rpm and on a diet of methanol with added oil and water. Unfortunately it had a spectacular thirst and towards the end of its racing life when it had been pushed to 425 bhp races were being lost because of the need to refuel.
